About Our Rehome Program

From time to time, we find that we must find good homes for good dogs. Sometimes these dogs are from our breeding program and are being retired. They have blessed us with many miracles and we feel it is only fair to find a home for them where they can be number one, not one of numbers. While it breaks our heart, it is what we feel is for the best interest of the dog, to go into a home where they can be pampered, and doted on, treated as royalty.

On occassion, we have a pup returned because their owner can not keep them. This could be because of a loss of income, loss of home, or a change in schedule. We then step in and help with finding a forever home.

There is also the ones that just do not mature as we had hoped, and we feel they should not move forward for breeding.

Adopting an adult has its own challenges. While a puppy will adjust to a new home within days, an adult takes much longer. You must be willing to devote at least a minimum of one month to allow time for adjustment. There will be issues arise, just as with a pup, only different. But know in the end, an adult can offer so much. And we offer support and help in solving any problems that may arise.

Adoption Requirements

We are very careful where we place our adults. Temperament matches are a must, so we will ask you many questions to see if we have "a fit". Our top priority is to find the best home for our dogs. They are dogs we have raised and we love them very much. It is critical that we find the absolute best environment for them to live out their retirement years.

We prefer that you live within 150-200 miles of our home. If, for some reason the adoption does not work out, it is much easier to return the dog to us. That is required as we refuse to allow one of our dogs to ever enter a shelter situation.

Our Shilohs are to live as house companions. They are not to be kenneled outside or tethered to a dog house.

A fenced yard is preferred. However, we will consider someone without a fenced yard if they are experienced dog handlers.

We reserve the right to do a home check as well as requiring references. Adoption fees vary, please contact us

Pickup is in person as we will not ship adult Shilohs. It is much too stressful for them.

Looking for New Homes

We have several Shilohs still looking for approved homes.

Lily: Dark bi-black/Cream plush, 6 years old. Must be spayed
Lily needs a fenced yard and a home as an only dog. She is really good with people and would make a great companion for a middle aged couple or a single person. She is fine with kids too, but is more comfortable around adults.

Rayne: Gray sable smooth, 6 years old, must be spayed
Rayne is a great dog, high energy and needs a fenced yard. She is good with people
and other dogs but not small animals. She would excel in obedience.

Destini: Dark dual black/red plush, 4 1/2 years old, must be spayed.
Destini gets along with everyone and all dogs. She is a real love but has allergies so has a specific program that must be followed. Obedience trained and has her CGC. Please contact me for more information on Destini. DESTINI HAS BEEN ADOPTED

Knightro: Dark bi-black/silver plush, 6 years old. Must be neutered.
Knightro is a very sweet, soft tempered dog, gets along well with other large dogs. I would prefer a fenced yard. He loves people and just wants to hang by your side. His brother was placed out last year and is doing great!

We also have two older males looking for homes, both must be only dogs and have a fenced yard.

May 2011: Update

We are still searching for a good home for two of our Shilohs.
Miss Lilly is pictured in the post below. She is a wonderful dog and just needs someone to open their hearts and give her a chance. Please consider adopting Miss Lilly and giving her a wonderful home. Miss Lilly was an owner-surrender and we are fostering her until a permanant home can be found.
We also have a large male available that has been retired from our breeding program. He is a dark brown sable, is house broken, crate trained and obedience trained with a CGC. He needs to be an only dog and needs a strong leader.
We are also looking for good people that are willing to foster a dog temporarily while they wait for a permanant home. If you think you may be interested, please drop us an email.
Please contact us for more information.

Available February 2011

Listed below are the dogs we currently have available to approved homes. We also do rescue, so please contact us for others that may be available.

**************************************

Miss Lilly is available to a good home. Her new family adopted her from another breeder and it was discovered that she did not get along with the existing dog in the home. They contacted the ISSDC rescue/rehome for help and we agreed to foster her. She is an owner surrender.
She is a mostly black plush with a small amount of cream, a tad on the small side but very sweet with people. She has absolutely no food aggression and gently takes treats from your hand. She must go into a home as an only dog as she tends to dominate over other dogs. She is crate trained, and generally well mannered. She will make a fine companion. She has been completely vetted, with full blood panels normal, thyroid normal and vaccinations and worming up to date. She does have a faint heart murmur graded at less than a one that will not affect her as a companion dog.
We would prefer a fenced yard and a home with no other dogs or small animals.

Please contact BelleGrace Shilohs for more information.
