About Our Rehome Program

From time to time, we find that we must find good homes for good dogs. Sometimes these dogs are from our breeding program and are being retired. They have blessed us with many miracles and we feel it is only fair to find a home for them where they can be number one, not one of numbers. While it breaks our heart, it is what we feel is for the best interest of the dog, to go into a home where they can be pampered, and doted on, treated as royalty.
On occassion, we have a pup returned because their owner can not keep them. This could be because of a loss of income, loss of home, or a change in schedule. We then step in and help with finding a forever home.
There is also the ones that just do not mature as we had hoped, and we feel they should not move forward for breeding.
Adopting an adult has its own challenges. While a puppy will adjust to a new home within days, an adult takes much longer. You must be willing to devote at least a minimum of one month to allow time for adjustment. There will be issues arise, just as with a pup, only different. But know in the end, an adult can offer so much. And we offer support and help in solving any problems that may arise.
We are currently looking for homes for a couple of our adults. Some are being retired, and a couple just did not make the cut when it came to their testing for breeding papers. While they can not be used to move forward (as we are extremely strict) they still will make absolutely wonderful companions that will give their new owners years of love.

Adoption Requirements

We are very careful where we place our adults. Temperament matches are a must, so we will ask you many questions to see if we have "a fit". Our top priority is to find the best home for our dogs. They are dogs we have raised and we love them very much. It is critical that we find the absolute best environment for them to live out their retirement years.

We prefer that you live within 150-200 miles of our home. If, for some reason the adoption does not work out, it is much easier to return the dog to us. That is required as we refuse to allow one of our dogs to ever enter a shelter situation.

Our Shilohs are to live as house companions. They are not to be kenneled outside or tethered to a dog house.

A fenced yard is also required. However, we will consider someone without a fenced yard if they are experienced dog handlers.

We reserve the right to do a home check as well as requiring references. Adoption fees vary but generally are the cost of altering (spay/neuter)
In some cases, we will allow the new owner to spay/neuter the adopted dog with a proper contract.

Pickup is in person as we will not ship adult Shilohs. It is much too stressful for them.

Looking for New Homes

We have several Shilohs still looking for approved homes.

Lily: Dark bi-black/Cream plush, 6 years old. Must be spayed
Lily needs a fenced yard and a home as an only dog. She is really good with people and would make a great companion for a middle aged couple or a single person. She is fine with kids too, but is more comfortable around adults.

Rayne: Gray sable smooth, 6 years old, must be spayed
Rayne is a great dog, high energy and needs a fenced yard. She is good with people
and other dogs but not small animals. She would excel in obedience.

Destini: Dark dual black/red plush, 4 1/2 years old, must be spayed.
Destini gets along with everyone and all dogs. She is a real love but has allergies so has a specific program that must be followed. Obedience trained and has her CGC. Please contact me for more information on Destini.

Knightro: Dark bi-black/silver plush, 6 years old. Must be neutered.
Knightro is a very sweet, soft tempered dog, gets along well with other large dogs. I would prefer a fenced yard. He loves people and just wants to hang by your side. His brother was placed out last year and is doing great!

We also have two older males looking for homes, both must be only dogs and have a fenced yard.

May 2011: Update

We are still searching for a good home for two of our Shilohs.
Miss Lilly is pictured in the post below. She is a wonderful dog and just needs someone to open their hearts and give her a chance. Please consider adopting Miss Lilly and giving her a wonderful home. Miss Lilly was an owner-surrender and we are fostering her until a permanant home can be found.
We also have a large male available that has been retired from our breeding program. He is a dark brown sable, is house broken, crate trained and obedience trained with a CGC. He needs to be an only dog and needs a strong leader.
We are also looking for good people that are willing to foster a dog temporarily while they wait for a permanant home. If you think you may be interested, please drop us an email.
Please contact us for more information.

Available February 2011

Listed below are the dogs we currently have available to approved homes. We also do rescue, so please contact us for others that may be available.

**************************************

Miss Lilly is available to a good home. Her new family adopted her from another breeder and it was discovered that she did not get along with the existing dog in the home. They contacted the ISSDC rescue/rehome for help and we agreed to foster her. She is an owner surrender.
She is a mostly black plush with a small amount of cream, a tad on the small side but very sweet with people. She has absolutely no food aggression and gently takes treats from your hand. She must go into a home as an only dog as she tends to dominate over other dogs. She is crate trained, and generally well mannered. She will make a fine companion. She has been completely vetted, with full blood panels normal, thyroid normal and vaccinations and worming up to date. She does have a faint heart murmur graded at less than a one that will not affect her as a companion dog.
We would prefer a fenced yard and a home with no other dogs or small animals.

Please contact BelleGrace Shilohs for more information.

Congratulations, Taylor and Jordan

Taylor has been adopted! She was spayed, had her pearly whites cleaned and polished, and was updated on all vaccines to get ready for her new home. Now living in NY with a wonderful couple, Taylor lives as an only dog who goes for long walks twice a day and is pampered as she deserves. We got these couple of shots of Taylor the day she left. Such a gorgeous girl!

Jordan has also been approved for her new home. She will be leaving us after the first of the year.

We wish both of these girls all the best in their new lives.

New Rescue Available

Picture coming soon......but we just opened our home to a rescue Shiloh. Her name is Lily, and she is a mostly black 4 year old plush female. She has come to us as a rescue, having spent most of her time not in a home environment. She has been completely checked by our vet, updated on all vaccines, is heartworm/lyme negative, and thyroid normal. She is adapting well to learning how to live inside a home. She is now crated trained, walks nicely on a leash and will soon be starting some basic obedience.
She is looking for a forever home. Miss Lily is very affectionate, and loves to be loved. She would do best with a woman as her main handler, but will make up to men if given the chance. A fenced yard would be a plus. She also needs to be an only dog as she tends to be dominant over other dogs. There has been no food aggression. She is extremely intelligent and is willing to please. For more information, please contact us.

Currently Available: July 2010

Jordan: Jordan is a very sweet girl, loving and affectionate. She will be available in late October, once she has weaned her babies and is spayed. She will be good in just about any environment. She will make a wonderful family pet. Jordan is five years old, plush golden sable.
ADOPTED

Knightro: Knightro is a 4 1/2 year old plush black/silver male with a heart of gold. He gets along great with other females, and some neutered males. He has a soft temperament and would do well in a home with older children or a home with older adults. His brother Dante' is one of our success stories.(see picture on right) Knightro did not pass his health testing and has mild HD in one hip. While it is not bad enough to limit his activity, he can not be used for breeding. He will make an awesome family companion. Knightro has been raised exclusively in our home, and has never been kenneled. He is crate trained, and learns quickly. He will need his house manners brushed up on, but will catch on quickly once he knows what is expected.

Rayne: Miss Rayne is a five year old smooth gray sable female, with a solid stable yet reserved temperament. She is being retired and as much as we would love to keep her, we feel she would do best in a home. She gets along well with other dogs, especially males, as long as they are soft tempered. She loves to play and is very athletic. She is very willing to please and loves to sit by your side and be petted. She has been raised in our home and is crate trained, walks well on a leash, and would do well in continuing obedience. She must go to a home with a fenced yard.

Taylor: Taylor is a very sweet, plush red sable, 5 year old female. She will be available later this year, after another breeding attempt. Taylor has never produced a litter for us, so we would like to give her one more chance.
She has completed basic obedience, and has a strong desire to please. She would do well with children and adults.
